The Urge To Move Forward

Peace to all my brothers, sisters and dear readers..

Why is moving important in life?
and why the forward motion usually gets the attention of progress and achievements?

Without movements, I’m likely being preserved of being dead. Or perhaps not a living organism. Either way, what’s the difference..what defines my existence as a living creature is that I can move, I have body gestures, I tend to react physically when prompt to.

But with only the capability of moving, it means nothing if I stay stagnant at one point. No changes made, just simply a thoughtful mind in a dead body. No reactions, as if a lying carcase on the road getting smashed over and over again by passing cars, not able to just shift myself aside to safety. No contribution, just like..nothing in this world, cause everything in this life has a purpose and contribution towards itself and others.

Al Ahqaaf 46:3
We did not create the heavens and the earth and what is between them two save with truth and (for) an appointed term; and those who disbelieve turn aside from what they are warned of.

Yet again, why is forward considered the motion of progress?
Is it because walking backwards is awkward?
Or perhaps ‘let the past be as it is’?

However, if we look back to the vector system, we would realize that there is no so called forward motion. In physics, there’s no forward motion. There are only positive or negative motions and directions. Then what is considered forward? Even if you take a particle moving in the negative direction (based on the standard x-y axis) and put it respective to you as the particle, then that negative direction IS FORWARD.

Where am I heading with this topic?

The urge to move forward is to progress in everything I do. The motion and direction is clearly subjective. But the point that declares everything is the end point. If the end point leads to nothing then the motion taken is obviously useless, worst to come, the efforts I’ve taken is simply wasted..time, money, energy etc.

At certain times, I’d feel stagnant but still do realize that doing so leads to nothing. And some times, I do have that eagerness to do things but yet nothing in mind of the results of my actions. Have the end in mind. With that, any motion I take, any direction I head, will most likely be meaningful and pictures the progress motion.

Well, is going backwards considered progress?

Why couldn’t it be? Going backwards is not a sign of retreat nor is it running away. Putting backwards into the big picture, is more of looking back. To seek knowledge of the past. To clear the misconceptions to enhace understandings. To provide one self with motivations from successful stories. To hunt for solutions of occurring problems.

Al Ahzab 33:62
(Such has been) the course of Allah with respect to those who have gone before; and you shall not find any change in the course of Allah.

Anything that interferes with the motion is either dealt with or perhaps ignored. To proceed one will take all steps required and leave those unnecessary aside. Camping would be a great example; I’ll only pack things required and leave the things most probably I won’t need. If something is a necessity and I don’t have it, most certain that I’ll drag myself out to get it. But if the thing is unimportant, I don’t have it, why bother getting it?

In life, to have that progress motion, one will need to set his goal, only then will one know what to pack. The packing is the progress motion. Being prepared is that little achievements most people neglect in the rush to move forward.

Let’s give this some scenes:
1. Parkour (path); efficient and fluid (end point); training (necessity)
2. Student (path); good grades and a fine job (end point); study (necessity)
3. Life (path); mardhotiLlah (end point); islam (necessity)

One with the best preparations will most likely be achieving his end point. And do bare in mind, ones with good preparations are those who brings along less unnecessary things. Or none at all.

the best thing you could pack is TAQWA

Mus'ab bin Umair; A Great Companion of The Prophet saw.

K.A.M.I. sewaktu Usrah Raya Gath di 'open house' tertutup bro Q dan bro GG.

Alhamdulillah, again today was given another chance to breathe air and see day light. And once again given a chance to preach on islam despite the very little audience in the musolla. I took hakim’s place for it was actually his turn to give the tazkeerah today but since he had other things to do (study for his thermodynamics which was just now), I jump in as a replacement.

Lacking in preparations, I considered talking again about Musab bin Umair. Which I did during our usrah’s raya gath last week. So I started off with this great sahabat’s back ground of how he was raised under such wealth and care of his rich parents in Mecca. It was told that the paths he took would still have his scent even though he was long gone. He wore the best clothings and was amongst those most talked about by the Quraisy girls. He had everything one child or even anyone could ever ask for.

This great companion of the Prophet Muhammad saw. was then neglected and by his mother ever since she knew that he embraced islam. But Musab took the initiative of running away to habsyah with some other early believers. Actually when his mother (a very well known and influential woman) knew that her son embraced islam, Musab was called upon to face the family. Musab did, and infront of his family members he recited the quran which then soft hearted his mother from slapping his face. But still his mother declined to accept the truth. Hidayah is from Allah and we can ensure that every one will receive it but it goes all the way to the heart wether to accept it or not. Same goes to Musab’s mother, and she refused it. Musab also met with his mother upon returning from habsyah but yet again forced to return back to their ancestors believes. But Musab’s faith was strong. “Go as you wish! You’re not my son any more!” “Mother, have I adviced you and I have cared for you (that you still refuse to accept islam). For that, witness me that I believe in Allah and Muhammad is His servant and His Messenger.”

How brittle the tie of blood compared to the tie of aqidah!

Musab was then chosen by Ar-Rasul to be the first ambassador of islam to Yathrib. It was said that not even one of the settlers of yathrib was not attended by Musab to preach about islam. And as we know, Yathrib turned to Madinah.

During Ghazwatul Uhud, Musab was again chosen to hold the banner of islam. During the chaotic period when the muslims were facing a defeat, the kuffar aimed to kill the Prophet Muhammad saw. knowing this, Musab intentionally moved forward shouting and attacking the kuffar’s front to attrack them from targeting the Prophet saw. his act was accomplished that he died doing so, protecting Muhammad saw.

Taken directly from the book of ‘60 SAHABAT RASULULLAH by Khalid Muhammad Khalid’.

This one of a kind companion died with his face down facing the dirt covered in his own pool of blood. It is then learnt that Musab recited “Muhammad itu tiada lain hanyalah seorang Rasul, dan sebelumnya telah didahului oleh beberapa Rasul / Muhammad is just a prophet, whom before his were other prophets” so that he can ease himself should the prophet get injured or perhaps die in the battle. For he was not there to proclaim the safety of the Prophet himself before he dies. Yet even when he died, he’s in fear to see the prophet getting hurt..thats why his body was in such position.

At his funeral, the only thing left to cover his body was just a piece of cloth. A cloth which if taken up to cover his face would then show his feet, and when pulled to cover his feet, his face would be seen.

“During in Mecca, not one person that I see has the best cloths and finest combed hair instead of you (Musab bin Umair). Now your hair is all tangled up (kusut masai), only left a piece of cloth to cover (your body)” said the Prophet Muhammad saw as he went to the body of Musab bin Umair after the battle of Uhud.

How he left the wealth of this world for the wonders of akhirah (the hereafter).

What stood between him choosing either al-Haq or al-Batil? He could have chosen to life happily with his parents, showered with wealth and respect. But instead he chose islam. That spared him nothing of this world but would be promised the whole of jannah as a return and mardhotiLlah.

[Taubah 9:38] O you who believe! What (excuse) have you that when it is said to you: Go forth in Allah's way, you should incline heavily to earth; are you contented with this world's life instead of the hereafter? But the provision of this world's life compared with the hereafter is but little.

Musab has lead his life well to the claim himself as a true muslim. He gave his whole life for that matter. What have we done?

We treasure these great stories. To be meeting them would be such honor. And where else could we ever see them and the Prophet Muhammad saw other than to be alongside them in paradise!

To embrace islam is one thing. To appreciate it is another. To protect it is requires sacrifices.
